Someone’s Been Listening to a little Johnny Paycheck
February 8th, 2008
Andy Idema just quit his J.O.B. — and he did it all for you.
Initially he started a flyfishing web site as a labor of love, something on the side. But recently, Andy told his boss to ‘Take This Job And Shove It’. Just so he could devote all of his time to The Fly Fishing Community.
The Fly Fishing Community is an online resource for anglers, guides, outfitters, lodge owners and flyshops. Features include a blog directory, fishing reports, discussion boards, and of course, the ability to share (& flaunt) fish pictures and videos.
Signing up is fast, easy and totally free, so check it out. C’mon what else do you have to do? Certainly your boss doesn’t expect you to work on a Friday.
And if so, you know what to tell ‘em…

If I head over there, will George Jones bail me out of jail?

uh oh Salty, have you gone and shot a man in a barfight?
(and they say fly-fishing is the “quiet” sport)

Johnny Paycheck’s story isn’t pretty. Maybe Andy should think twice about quiting his day job. While there are a fair number of rainbows in the world of fly fishing, there aren’t many pots of gold.

el pescador — I agree, there are very few “pots of gold” in the world of fly-fishing. but there are some moments that are priceless. just today, my 8-yr old daughter heard me bemoaning that my traffic #s are lower on the site today. next thing I know she’s posted this sign on her door:

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am looking forward to reading both your blog and poking around the Fly Fishing Community. I have only been fly fishing for a couple of years, and I don’t have the chance to go nearly as much as I would like. I like reading all I can on the subject!

Thanks for posting that link FFC, I just spent half of my day looking at pictures… and wishing I could quit my job…
