I really love what you blog about here, very insightful and smart. One problem though, I'm running Firefox on Ubuntu and parts of your content are a little off. I know it's not a common setup, but it's still something to keep an eye on. Just tossing you a heads up.

Hi Chick
Sorry you felt so bad on your trip nothing worse than a bad headache. But we all know fishing can be really good or really bad. It is the old saying you should have been here yesterday. We are still dealing with extremely cold temps in PA. So fishing is pretty much a bust. At this point we figure it will be at least 6 weeks before it picks up. I spent this morning taking fly line off a half dozen reals and cleaning it for the up coming spring. Oh and for good measure I managed to loose my primary dry fly box. At this point I am right on the verge of loosing my marbles. I am tying daily and barely making a dent in what is missing.
You know as far as red fishing goes the west coast of Florida from Tampa Bay south is wonderful in the spring. Oh and for good measure there is Mosquito Lagoon on the east coast of Florida. The chances of picking up a grand slam are really good. So break out the 8 WT, your bikini and the sun block. You and the professor will have tales to tell. Be well my friend tight lines...... Mike

Just a suggestion: The White River in Arkansas has had really high generations for 3 years now, which has the numbers and quality of fish at a level not seen in 20 years or so. They have successfully dropped the lake and barring Spring rains (which are rare, but have foiled the last two Spring trips for me), the April caddis hatch should be phenomenal. We like to fish with a 5 weight, loaded with 6 wt. line to overcome the stiff winds. Elk hairs, or olive stimulaters size 16-20 are unstoppable. My favorite is swinging caddis pupas, same size and holding on tight as they will try to snatch the pole out of your hand!

Chick:
The Venice redfishery is probably the best in the world, as I am sure you know. Hate to hear about the weather, I am headed to pascagoula for work and decided to bring the 8 weight with me, hopefully the reds and gator trout will be nice to me! Good luck on the return trip, tight lines!

Sounds like you should go to the Big Easy on a Galatoire's expedition and if the redfishing works out, hey, there's your gravy.

I feel you pain. We fished there last January and found the same conditions--good food at Penny's and lousy weather for reds. unlike you we were not smart enough to stay off the water. I plan on returning.
