    Spaghetti Western

    Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Is it me or does this pasta look a lot like fly line? While I typically race in a million different directions, I am literally preparing to head in two very opposite directions (both geographically and culturally) as we are traveling west to Montana and then east to Italy…in all of its pastalicious carbohydrate glory. [...]

And Tomorrow Starts The Same Old Thing Again

    Wednesday, May 1, 2013

When I was a kid my parents used to host their own Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic “Satellite” parties in our backyard in Dallas. They were fairly epic. To resurrect that tradition I thought it would be fun to have a celebration last night in honor of Willie’s 80th birthday. With the help of [...]

Which Came First, The Cake or The Egg?

    Monday, April 29, 2013

In this case, it was the egg. As in The Big Green Egg Eggfest. Cake would come later in the weekend. You may not know that the Professor is quite the grill master. Last year for his 50th birthday he got a green egg and it has opened him up to a whole new world [...]

    A Matter of Public Record

    Sunday, April 14, 2013

Yesterday we spent spent a beautiful spring day in Mobile Alabama trying to acquire/install a turntable so we could listen to our growing vintage vinyl collection. I will spare you the laborious details but we went to a local record store, no luck. Tried the flea market, no luck. Went to my sister-in-law’s to commandeer [...]

Karma Is a Snap

Considering I rarely drink milk and am one of the few women in my age group not constantly gnawing on calcium chews like a teenage boy with a wad of tobacco, I am pretty impressed with my natural bone strength which was mightily tested this weekend vis a vis an airborne push pole that became [...]

Piscatorial Pictorial

My husband and my dad returned a week ago from their bonefish trip in the Bahamas but I am just now getting a chance to share the pics. For those of you out there who have been waiting a lot longer to hear back from me or get whatever it is you need from me, [...]

Green House Effect

I wish I were wearing my lucky green Cloudveil fishing shirt and chasing bonefish in the Bahamas, but sadly this picture is from a few years back. Today finds me sitting in my house green with envy as my husband and my dad are in the Bahamas without me. Alas, I am but a [...]

Do As The Romans Do

Or in this case, Ben Romans. The Professor and I first bumped into Ben Romans summer before last in The Melrose Bar after a day of fishing on The Big Hole. We didn’t chat that night but in a small-world twist of fate we ran into his buddy the next day on the river – [...]

A Pinch Of Salt

Hoping to get lucky with the redfish this weekend, the Professor and I threw our 8-weights over our left shoulders right into the truck and dashed over to the Pascagoula Marsh for a few hours of saltwater fishing. We didn’t have a ton of time because we had to get home to catch the second [...]

Rockstars and Rocks and Stars

September has been a whirlwind month with my “FFC Turns 40 World Domination Birthday Tour”. My head is spinning with all the tales I have to share. It all started in Atlanta with a fun-filled Labor Day weekend, cheering for the Tarheels in the Georgia Dome. Then the following weekend, Little Chick and I ventured [...]

Home Sweet Home Waters

I finished the Texas Water Safari on Tuesday July 13th. By the following Sunday, hands still swollen, I scooped up Little Chick and made a beeline for Montana and the Missouri River. Football players win the Super Bowl and head to Disneyland…I head to the Mo. Don’t get me wrong, after months of training and [...]

Apparently We Have A Pretty Deep Bench

With thirteen UNC players suspended – eight of them starters – we thought Coach Butch Davis might need our help on the field last night at the season opener against LSU. After all I do have four full years eligibility in tact. So we suited up for the cause. Apparently we have a pretty deep [...]

Just a Typical Day in Craig Montana…

My friend LG has filmed a marketing video for our friends at The Trout Shop in Craig MT and they were kind enough to ask me to record the voiceover for the video. I was happy to help, although with everyone’s fishing schedules, we have had trouble the past few days trying to find a [...]

Truth In Advertising

They bill The Texas Water Safari as “The World’s Toughest Boat Race” and frankly, I think they nailed the tagline. This was the hardest thing I have ever done. I am feeling pretty good after the race, my hands are achy and still a bit swollen, my legs are covered in poison ivy, I am [...]
